The Multiverse depends on you.
There's a huge threat incoming that is threatining to destroy everything we know. Only, Nix Uotan, the last from the Monitors knows about this menace and he's willing to reclute some of the best heroes from 52 worlds to save all existence. However, even the best heroes can fall.
Well, it's finally here and I suppose that it's more or less what you would expect from a creator like Grant Morrison.
The Multiversity is a project several years on the making, I believe that Morrison teased about its existence way back in 2009 and after 5 years or so it's thankfully here.
Since the beginning, you will notice that Multiversity is not your conventional comic book, is one that makes fun of the whole premise of comic books but also demonstrates a lot of love for the genre. Why? Because you will see different famous character from the DC Multiverse as well as some obscure ones from DC's history.
You have Calvin Ellis, the Superpresident. Captain Carrot, the superrabbit. The Thunderer, Thor's Analogue. And many, many more characters I don't want to spoil at the moment, it's better if you check it out.
Morrison is the kind of writer who likes to use several concepts he created over the course of the years in different works. The concepts he invented in JLA, he used them in Seven Soldiers of Victory, the ideas he developed in Seven Soldiers, he used them in Final Crisis and finally, the themes he delivered in that series, he's using them again on the current title.
That's a bit of a problem since new readers will most likely be a bit lost since they wouldn't know a character like Nix Uotan who was introduced in Final Crisis. However, is great for people who have been following this author's work since there's a classic theme of his being used here which is music. Everything about Grant Morrison has something to do with music.
The way how he implements the concepts is great. Captain Carrot can't be hurt because he's from an universe with cartoon physics, that's so wonderful, the Bleed which is way to connect the different worlds is also implemented here. Superheroes who are comic fans. So many things that people will automatically fell in love with.
Dialogue is pure Morrison, meaning that can get pretty unnatural at times but it's so bombastic that sometimes you don't even care about how weird it is.
Ivan Reis is on artwork and he does an amazing job. He's pretty much the perfect person to launch this title considering his ability to draw multiple characters on a page and his perfect redesigns. There's also a character who is pretty close to the artist's heart that also gets a new look, a pretty radical one.
If you want a crazy ride then I can't recommend this enough. It simply put a smile on my face.
