The war against the Green Latern Corps has ended, can they celebrate a moment of peace at least.
Hal Jordan is recovering after the constant battles he had to endure lately and since he can't come back to earth due to the Red Lanterns law, Kilowog has decided to bring him a little surprise.
"Uprising" has satisfactorily ended and now Robert Venditti is preparing for the next big event.
However, that doesn't mean he can't use this issue for character development.
This is a pretty good one-and-done issue that the writer uses to give more depth to Hal's character as well as give more emphasis to the struggles he had to suffer due to the appearance of Relic and his theory about the Emotional Spectrum.
Everything works perfectly and I'm starting to think that this is where Venditti's writing especially shines, when he utilizes his style to try to give his characters more growth.
Plus, it prepares us for the next big Green Lantern crossover "Godhead" at the end. The content is pretty enjoyable.
If I had a complaint though is that I wish that Simon Baz would have done more considering how he was advertised.
Art duties are shared by Billy Tan and Martin Coccolo and while Tan's work continues to be strong, I must say that I enjoyed Coccolo's pencils the most since his characters look much more attractive and he has an overall more refined style.
Great issue, anyone interested in the future must check it out.
