Some thoughts about Green Lantern: New Guardians #40

The end of the White Lantern is coming.

Despite of being reunited with all of his friends, Kyle still has no possibility to defeat Oblivion and he's not willing to have the responsibility of the White Lantern on his own. What will be the solution?

This is the final chapter of this series as well as the conclusion of Justin Jordan's run on the character. So, does it delivers?

Well, I'm happy to say it totally does!

Jordan utilizes all the different plot-points and characters that he has been developing during the course of his run and gives all of them a nice moment to shine.

Most importantly though, he presents a solution to the problem of the power of the White Lantern and how Kyle is destined to become a God if he keeps it. The result is quite logical yet surprising and it also presents interesting developments for the future.

The dialogue continues to work greatly and the dynamics between all the members from the cast is pretty satisfying based on their time together.

Diogenes Neves and Roge Antonio share the pencils during the whole issue and their style remains consistent for the most with a solid storytelling.

Great conclusion and this is one of the titles I'm going to miss the most.

  1. I feel like this was just a rehash of classic Rayner stories. Him as a White Lantern played out exactly the same as him as Ion, even the resolution of him creating a new corps to dissipate the power.

    1. Yeah, but I still liked how the solution made sense considering the dilemma they were facing.
