Some thoughts about Supergirl #40

The Crucible Academy is coming to an end.

Kara will need to fight the corrupted beings who have been controlling the academy for a while but fortunately she's not alone in her fight. However, even if she manages to defeat them that doesn't mean her problems will be over.

The final chapter of this run and series and I'm pretty disappointed that is over so soon.

Kate Perkins and Mike Johnson bring the conclusion of their storyline about the Crucible Academy by utilizing all the members from the cast they introduced here and thankfully all of them receive a nice moment of characterization.

Kara receives a great portrayal during the whole issue obviously but I must say that I especially like the revelation about Maxima here which contrast really well with the history of her previous incarnation.

It's also necessary to mention that the writers are teasing the upcoming appearance of Superboy in Teen Titans while also hinting about a new direction for Supergirl which hopefully will arrive soon.

Emanuela Luppachino remains on art duties and her work is still quite good with beautiful characters and solid storytelling skills.

Pretty solid conclusion, shame that this run couldn't last a little longer.
