Can Batwoman save Julia Pennyworth before is too late?
Julia has been kidnapped by Professor Pyg and is up to Kate to find out where he has taken her but even that might not be enough.
I swear to God that I didn't even know that Marguerite Bennett horrendously BORING run ended and apparently is up to Kate Perkins to once again deliver a run before a book is cancelled. That being said, I find this chapter much more interesting than anything that happened before.
Unlike Bennett who for some reason decided to focus on an island and characters that nobody gave a sh*t about, Perkins decides to touch more classic Batwoman ideas like her background with her sister as well as some of her past, in fact her boring girlfriend from that island was only mentioned twice (which is still a bit too much if you ask me).
Best of all is that the characterization is solid and the amount of content this issue delivers is much better than previous entries, is basically an one-and-done story that sets-up future plots and offers more bang for your buck. Professor Pyg is also a nice antagonist for Kate considering his theme and challenges her in a compelling manner.
Scott Godblewski's artwork is quite fitting for the story thanks to his dark tone, expressive characters and solid storytelling.
Better than expected, hope it continues this way. EDIT: It seems that Bennett's run isn't over yet, that just makes things worse isn't it?
