The past always comes back for everyone.
Honor has been trying to live a normal life all these years along with her family but suddenly a group of mercenaries will force her to return to her old job.
Another Metal spinoff begins here. As you might remember, I wasn't exactly impressed by Damage despite of liking the creative team for the most part, so does The Silencer present a better example of what this line can provide?
Yeah, it actually does.
I must say that I was pretty interested in the premise from the start, the idea of a mother and wife trying to handle a normal life despite that she used to be a hired killer is something pretty unique by itself but also both Dan Abnett and John Romita Jr. manage to sell the idea nicely thanks to the believable characterization. Honor appears at first like a pretty common woman who just wants to make her family happy and you immediately buy that she has a happy family due to the interactions they have, is a bit idealized at times but is still charming in its own way.
This theme clearly clashes with her old career and is good to know that this is actually connected to the greater DCU which includes the presence of Talia's Al Ghul who is connected to Honor's past. The way how her abilities is presented is also pretty inventive and start to reveal what her speciality used to be. The issue doesn't present much content sadly but what it does it does well.
JRJR's artwork is a bit of an acquired taste in terms of style due that his character models and environments can look rushed at times but still he tells the story appropriately.
Promising beginning overall, hope it continues to be this good.
