Atlantis needs a new ruler.
The Elders of Atlantis have realized that Rath is a poor King and they need to replace him immediately but the person they choose will be a surprise for everyone.
Everything is coming together nicely.
Dan Abnett brings a new chapter where he continues to explore the world of Atlantis and what their people are willing to do to preserve it. The story takes a pretty interesting twist once that Elders reveal their true plans about who they want to become the leader of their Kingdom and it involves Mera in a pretty interesting way. This comes as a compelling development considering the initial views they had about her but is also pretty natural all things considered, best of all is that this perfectly sets-up her upcoming miniseries and makes much more sense now in context.
The plot also progresses nicely with more revelations about the world under the sea and how they all have their respective plans about what is about to come. The characterization is solid and Rath continues to be presented as an incompetent Trump analogue.
Riccardo Federeci returns to art duties and his work is still perfect for this story thanks to his unique style that brings the fantasy aspects of the arc to life.
Great read, excited for the next one.
