Some thoughts about Dark Nights: Metal #2

What is the Dark Multiverse?

Batman has been feeling the presence of Barbatos for a while now and he's ready to stop him even if he has to go against his own friends.

The DC event of the year continues and so far seems like a solid one.

Scott Snyder delivers a new chapter where he goes full with his classic exposition. This has been one of the typical Snyder's flaws and it becomes quite obvious here by delivering tons of detail that, while relevant to the plot, make the issue feel overwritten. Mind you, this doesn't quite ruin the chapter for me but it still feels a bit off considering this is a crossover story and it should focus more on cinematic storytelling.

That being said, Snyder knows how to implement the nature of the event to include almost every little detail from the DCU here. Several different characters and references from DC Comics make an appearance one way or another, the writer knows how to use continuity in his favor and it doesn't seem like he's ignoring anything despite of the constant reboots. This is particularly obvious in Batman since the references about Final Crisis and The Return of Bruce Wayne are quite relevant here.

Greg Capullo handles the artwork and is beautiful. A very polished style that creates wonderful looking characters and scenarios.

Solid overall, interested to see where this is going.
