Can Batwoman survive her own past?
Kate has found herself in the desert and she can't help but remember some of the most important people in her life.
Not bad overall.
Marguerite Bennett goes solo in this chapter focusing mostly on character work based on Kate's background. Mind you, I've mentioned several times before that I was tired of the flashback to Kate's past, particularly the ones centered on her family BUT that was before I was introduced to the chore that was the island Coryana so I think I can accept bringing back the old stuff instead of the new in this case.
And it is well-handled for the most part. Sure, there are still some insufferable moments from the boring island but at the same time we see some new appearances from Beth which makes me hope that she will reappear soon in the future. Of course all of this happens in form of hallucinations but if comics have taught me anything is that this is pure set-up.
There's a problem though, is pretty damn short. The issue is finished so quickly just when it was about to get good. Pretty decompressed.
Fernando Blanco handles the artwork and is pretty solid, he's especially skilled during the most bizarre scenes showing a lot of creativity during those segments.
Enjoyable, maybe things will start to get better.
