Is Kite Man up to the challenge?
The war between the Joker and the Riddler continues and Kite Man doesn't know if he's strong enough to be part of it.
Did you know that Kite Man is a joke? Because Tom King is here to remind you EVERY FRIKKING SECOND!
I'm not kidding that the word "joke" is repeated in basically every page. We all know how King's repetition works but this is way too much even for his standards, it completely breaks the flow of the read to the point where you're just expecting to find that word in every next scene and that's pretty much the only thing that you're expecting.
You see, while the first chapter of The Ballad of Kite Man was complex enough to merit an interlude, this one doesn't work as well, not only because of the goddamn repetition but also because it doesn't pack the same emotional punch the last chapter had. It has a few moments here and there but the already mentioned flaws simply ruin them. The fact that this takes place in the middle of a story that barely progresses makes things even worse.
Clay Mann's artwork is quite good though, in fact one of his best efforts that I've seen. It might be because of the different inker or colourist but his work has a pretty dark and rough style that fits perfectly in this book.
Other than that, completely skippable issue. What a waste.
