Some thoughts about Hawkman #12

Can Hawkman stop the Deathbringers?

Carter is ready to take down his former friend once for all but even if he does it, things are just starting for him.

This story comes to and end and while it was overly-long, I think this is a satisfying conclusion.

Robert Venditti brings closure to the Deathbringers arc by offering a chapter full of action. The fight scenes are fast and finally makes the conflict between Carter and Idamm end which mind you, is not particularly interesting, it basically a common final battle. The most interesting part comes at the end when Carter meets his original self and closes the door to this cycle of death and brings peace to Ktar.

There's also the expected set-up for upcoming stories including the inevitable arrival of Shayera and future events that might still be connected to the Deathbringers which I'm not necessarily anticipating considering how much time we spent on them.

Bryan Hitch delivers yet another widescreen work that is good for a sense of scale but doesn't look that good in closer details.

Overall, this storyline dragged too much and could have been easily told in less issues but manages to be entertaining in its own way. Hope the next story is better though.
