Some thoughts about Catwoman Annual #1

Is Catwoman culprit of murder?

Someone has framed Selina of the deaths of some cat burglars but there's much more about this case than some people want to admit.

An Annual has just arrived where the current writer of the title, Joelle Jones, decides to tell an one-and-done story and is pretty successful in that regard.

The plot is centered around Selina who has just been accused of murder and she need to investigate who the real murderer is. The story plays like a little mystery where the culprit is not someone who you would usually expect, at least not in a Catwoman title, but the accomplice is someone has become recently connected to Selina and this plays in a pretty solid manner, mostly because in the way how Jones decides to tell the story which doesn't follow a conventional structure but works really well in that regard once that you start connecting past and present segments.

The characterization is also really good due that the writer uses this as an opportunity to show how Selina sees her own life as a thief which reveals a lot about her as well as how she needs to get closer to other people in her own way.

Elena Casagrande, Hugo Petrus and Scott Godlewski share the pencils and their work is really amazing with a beautiful and vibrant style that depicts the character expressions perfectly.

Good stuff, wouldn't mind more of this standalone stories.
