The Witching Hour is upon us.
Wonder Woman has been completely controlled by Hecate and now the Justice League Dark will have to gather all of their forces to stop her and the end of the world.
This crossover comes to a conclusion and is not a really good one, just like the rest of this overly-extended story.
James Tynion IV tries to give a satisfying finale for the ideas he has been developing for a while but his execution gets in the way once again. One of the most annoying aspects is how this issue tries to hype Hecate to ridiculous levels to the point where characters start saying that "She was more powerful than Zeus" and I don't really care about that because she hasn't been interesting enough as a character and villain so big power levels mean nothing.
Not to mention that this is also told in the most expository way this book has seen and considering that this is Tynion we're talking about, that's saying a lot. A lot of the chapter is focused on telling instead of actually showing which makes this whole crossover a complete waste because every single chapter of this story had a similar execution. Oh, and the issue ends with Circe receiving Hecate's power which makes her the actual big bad and this would have been a more acceptable twist if it wasn't because this is just a set-up for a future story.
Positive points? Well, there's a page where the whole Justice League Dark is reunited including old and new members like Zatanna, Constantine, Deadman, Black Orchid, Swamp Thing, Traci 13, Black Alice among others and I dig that, I really do. A team like this would really work for me and the only thing they would need to do is to keep Wonder Woman out of the title because she doesn't really work in it. In fact, this crossover as a whole has made me realize that Diana is not really needed in the book despite of how much it tried to force her role here.
Jesus Merino, Fernando Blanco and Miguel Mendonca share the pencils and their work is consistent for the most part while depicting the supernatural events appropriately.
Boy, I feel like this whole "event" wasn't needed and I don't have much hope for the future.
