Some thoughts about Aquaman #41

Can Mera protect her people?

The Sea Gods from other galaxies have unleashed their attack on Earth and Atlantis is one of the most affected. Now is up to Mera to find a way to save everyone.

This crossover continues right away and so far, so good.

Dan Abnett offers the second chapter of the Drowned Earth event that started this week in Justice League. Is necessary to mention that this is Abnett's final storyarc in the book and I guess it makes sense for him to end on a high note with a big crossover that impacts Aquaman and everyone around him. This issue is centered on Mera though and Abnett is able to give her an interesting characterization and dilemma where she has to choose to help either her people or the whole planet, if there's something I can appreciate about Abnett's tenure in this book is how well he got the characters and he always knew how to portray a solid Mera.

The threat of the Sea Gods is entertaining enough due that they're basically turning all the people they touch into sea monsters/zombies and that's something that I always find enjoyable. This also forces Mera to join forces with someone she just fought and that makes things even more intriguing.

Lan Medina handles the art and he's pretty good as usual thanks to his expressive characters and clear storytelling.

Good chapter, hope everything stays this way.
