Some thoughts about Batman #57

Can Batman face the KGBeast?

Bruce has finally found the man who shot Dick and now he will have to defeat once for all but not without remembering a little story.

Well, this was a full issue of nothing.

Tom King delivers the final confrontation between Batman and the KGBeast and you may think that this would be a more impressive moment considering how much the villain has been hyped during the last couple of issues but NOPE! In fact, is a pretty by the numbers fight where they exchange punches and Bruce simply wins because he was apparently stronger, nothing more, nothing less. It actually reminds me a lot of the fight between Batman and Bane during the I am Bane arc, just a big battle scene and is not even exciting to see.

Oh but King does include another "story" here. A little fairy tale that apparently both Bruce and KGBeast's parents used to tell them. A story that really feels out of place in the whole context of the fight. There's probably a "deeper" meaning that King wanted to depict here by its inclusion but considering how bad everything else has been executed during this run, I think I'm safe that is just pretentious writing.

Tony Daniel's artwork is still fantastic but I feel like he's wasted in a story where not even the action segments are that interesting.

Boy, what a waste. Anyway, let's continue.
