Is this the end of Michael Cray?
Diana has decided to get in contact with her Gods no matter what and to defeat her, Michael will have to find the inner power he has been running from.
I guess this a decent conclusion at least?
Bryan Hill finishes this book by giving Michael Cray a kinda appropriate closure. The final battle against Diana is logical due that the question about if her Gods are real or not is never answered and thus doesn't break the heavily science-based Wildstorm universe. The way how Michael has to make peace with the being who lives in his head to face Diana brings things full circle as well. Constantine also proved to be an entertaining character all the way through.
That being said, I can't really call this a spectacular ending. Again, everything that happened here felt adequate but at the same time doesn't really bring anything surprising to the table nor explored anything particularly interesting about the world. I know I'm a broken record here but I still feel that the lack of worldbuilding of the Wildstorm universe was a waste of potential, that would have been more interesting than simply portray DCU heroes as psychopaths who Michael needed to kill.
Besides, I can't help but think that this is just a set-up for Michael's actual role in the Wildstorm universe. I guess in that way it made sense that he would end the fight with a "deathblow" but again, I was hoping for more.
N. Steven Harris' art became much better in terms of polish and the storytelling was on-point.
So yeah, this series as a whole was simply "okay". Hope the future is much better.
