Some thoughts about Justice League Dark #4

Can Wonder Woman stop Hecate?

The Goddess is ready to destroy everything and Diana will have to use the power she got from the deity to put an end to all of this but even that might not be enough.

Boy, this story is getting messy.

The Witching Hour part 3 is here and while the last issue was really dull as a whole, this one becomes way more chaotic. There are a few positives here though, James Tynion IV continues to bring a few classic characters from the Justice League Dark like Black Orchid and implements supernatural concepts in a way that makes a bit of sense. The interactions between the cast is enjoyable for the most part and is cool to see Deadman in the team once again.

That being said, the story continues pretty by the numbers and concludes in a way that I saw coming a mile ago considering how this event started. Even worse is the pacing, as I said, Tynion tries to implements many supernatural concepts but does it in a rather erratic manner in which they often get in the way of the ongoing plot and interrupt its progress, the story constantly jumps from point to point without many natural transitions and thus the read can be all over the place. Oh, and I'm still not a fan of the overwrought third person narration that just makes the read even more painful.

Alvaro Martinez' artwork is excellent as usual though thanks to his beautiful style and characters.

Aside from that, this run is turning out the way I initially expected sadly.
