The Titans's tragedies never end.
The group not only has to suffer because of the loss of Roy Harper but also because Nightwing is not the same anymore.
Is funny how editorial mandates can easily break the book.
I feel like this was one of the issues with Dan Abnett's previous direction, it always felt like he was buying time for the series and that's one of the reasons why the stories continually dragged. Worst of all is that this direction, which was editorially mandated by the way, started promising enough and seemed like it brought new energy to the book.
Unfortunately, yet another mandate forced Nightwing to leave the team because he was shot in the head and that changed his whole personality and apparently this left the group with no purpose. Hell, this is actually addressed in this issue itself due that the characters start commenting how Dick was the one who keep the team together (which is true) and now they all need to deal with all the losses that are happening, including a death that occurs in this chapter, without his moral support.
That being said, Abnett does create a few logical developments from here like the fact that Donna's alcoholism becomes even worse due to the death of Roy and the absence of Dick doesn't make things any better. The rest of the cast also react in an appropriate way because their leader has abandoned them. Still, this feels like a way to create damage control because of the abrupt change of directions, especially considering that the recent one only lasted for a few issues.
Brent Peeples handles the art and is pretty decent due that he follows the script appropriately enough.
Boy, not sure what to think about the future. DC can really ruin good opportunities.
