Is revenge really worthy?
Jagger's father was murdered and that will lead her to a path of violence and her uncle will be the one to guide her through it.
Jinxworld continues and this time brings us the classic Powers team of Brian Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming and quite frankly, it works better than most of the other books from this line.
For one, the opening goes much more straight to the point and manages to be more impactful. The issue starts with a murder and how it shapes the future of a little girl. The characterization is really solid from Jagger's perspective due that her emotional pain is clearly shown and the repercussions that happen after it are understandable and terrifying. The relationship with her uncle is also solidly established by exploring his background and how that connects him to his niece in a stronger manner.
Mind you, I believe that the issue is a bit too short since the story ends rather quickly and I wanted to know what is going to happen next almost immediately but this also can be something positive since no other Jinxworld book has gave me this sense of excitement.
Oeming's artwork is one of the reasons why I liked this book so much. His flexible style allows for really shocking and violent moments while creating strong expressions and storytelling.
Great start, hope the next one offers more though.
