What could bring these people together?
Jessica Cruz is investigating a series of strange events and that will put them in Cyborg and Starfire's path but what they don't know is that this is all Darkseid's plan.
One of my most anticipated books is finally here. I have been pleasently surprised by Joshua Williamson in recent years and the fact that Stjepan Sejic was working on art duties only made things better. Sadly, recent news revealed that Sejic is not going to be in the long term and is shame because I feel that the combination of both made a really good first impression.
The story takes place after the events of the Justice League: No Justice miniseries just like the rest of new Justice League family of books and uses some of the new ideas created in a decent way. The characterization seems on-point due that the whole cast acts the way they should, best of all is that the connection between old partners like Vic and Kory is immediately emphasized which means that some of their old history is back. I have a few issues with the dialogue though, particularly when it introduces a few of the characters and seems a bit too old-school comic book style.
The story progresses at a nice pace while developing what could make these characters work together and things get even more exciting once that Darkseid appears and reveals the truth which gives everything a whole new context that seems promising.
Sejic's artwork is fantastic thanks to his vibrant style that creates beautiful and expressive characters along with impressive visuals.
Solid beginning, shame that Sejic is off the series but hope things continue to be good.
