Can Atlantis be saved?
The bomb has just started its countdown and now both Aquaman and the Suicide Squad will have to find a way to stop it but to do so, a life will have to be sacrificed.
Well, this was a competent yet predictable conclusion.
Dan Abnett and Rob Williams offer the last chapter of this story by giving it a quick resolution. The best part of the issue is the characterization and interactions due that most of the cast acts the way they should and they present a few interesting moments of development. In fact, one of the members of the cast has a few sympathetic moments before the inevitable happens.
Then again, I believe that this wasn't really special in any way. Just as I thought, one of the recently introduced members of the Suicide Squad gets killed and nobody is surprised by it, all the contrary, they even mock his dead which is a bit too meanspirited even for an obvious red shirt. Another thing that bothered me is that the history between King Shark and the Suicide Squad wasn't even addressed which is a sad missed opportunity. Finally, as I already mentioned, the whole threat was solved just a bit too abruptly and didn't even allow for enough tense moments.
Joe Bennett is a great penciller and he follows the script in a really solid way while delivering strong expressions along the way.
This gets the job done but nothing more than that. I was hoping for more.
