Some thoughts about Justice League #8

Who is Lex Luthor's newest ally?

Lex has gotten desperate and now has decided to ask The Batman who Laughs for help and that could cause the death of the entire universe.

This is basically a transition issue but works decently enough.

James Tynion IV takes over the title this time to talk about the bizarre deal that Lex Luthor is going to make. As we learned in the last issue, The Batman who Laughs is Lex's prisoner and the interesting aspect about this is that Tynion mentions that, since the monster is a Batman, he's only being captured because he wants to (Mind you, I'm starting to hate the Mary Sue-ish portrayal the character has been getting since Metal) and shows a much more tense dynamic between the two.

The rest of the villains also make an appearance, particularly Black Manta and Cheetah who get a pretty relevant scene where they go after one of Wonder Woman's Gods. I especially liked Manta's portrayal since it depicted him as a pretty brutal and cold being, just as he should be.

I have a few problems though since this was also mostly just another set-up for upcoming stories where the writer is mostly preparing plot-points and ideas to be developed in the future. Mind you, some of them are intriguing like the use of Will Payton, the most forgotten Starman, but after last chapter, I don't have much tolerance for this.

Mikel Janin's artwork is fantastic thanks to his beautiful characters, clean style and strong storytelling.

Yeah, a nice enough read, hope things start to be more satisfying though.
