Some thoughts about The Flash Annual #3

Can you trust Captain Boomerang?

Digger has been captured and now is forced to tell his last adventure with the Suicide Squad and The Flash, but you can always count on him to lie.

Another Annual has arrived and you can always trust Joshua Williamson on telling at least an enjoyable story.

This issue is all about Captain Boomerang and how much of an unreliable narrator he can be. This is pretty obvious right from the beginning since not even the agents who are interrogating him take him seriously, in that sense, the story is much more lighthearted in tone than what you usually see in Williamson's run and it's a breath of fresh air in that regard.

In terms of characterization, is pretty solid with Digger being portrayed as a con man with a bit of a heart which I believe is the right approach considering his whole history. Barry and the rest of the Suicide Squad also get decent moments overall.

Once again, I appreciate the respect for continuity that Williamson offers due that you see mentions about both Digger and Deadshot have a history on the Suicide Squad, Barry having a fight with Deathstroke about Kid Flash (Probably because of Wallace's role in Slade's Defiance team) and the inclusion of Tom Taylor's Suicide Squad (Including the mention of that rather out of character hero turned villain). Great attention to detail.

Stephen Segovia, Brandon Peterson and Carlo Pagulayan handle the art and despite that their styles are pretty different from each other's, they do a solid job during their respective sections.

Good read, love this run.
