Some thoughts about Superman #38

The final battle between Superman and Ulysses is about to start and the whole world is at risk.

Ulysses has become crazy after losing his own world and has decided to make Superman and his people suffer. Now if he wants to stop him, Clark will need to use an ability that he didn't even know he had.

This issue officially marks the conclusion of The Men of Tomorrow storyarc so does it work?

I'm glad to say that it absolutely does.

Geoff Johns concentrates the first part of the chapter in a powerful fight between Superman and Ulysses in which Clark demonstrates what makes him different from his adversary and how he tends to inspire people to become their best.

About the new ability that Superman has developed, is not really complex but is apparently pretty powerful and is also a hint about how clark might be developing other skills.

The final pages of the issue are dedicated to more character work that once again, work quite well and they examplify how compasionate and kind Superman is and how he influences around others. Plus, they offer some pretty interesting developments for the relationship between some characters.

John Romita Jr. delivers one of his best efforts in art duties with some really strong action scenes at the beginning that feel perfect for the kind of battle is ocurring while the more personal moments are solidly executed.

Overall, one of the best issues from this run. Really recommended.
