Some thoughts about Batgirl #39

Batgirl's life is starting to fall apart.

The people from Burnside have been convinced that they need to bring down their own heroine and Barbara needs to learn who is the culprit behind this. The problem is that such person might have a bigger connection to Barbara than she could have ever imagined.

Holy twist Bat... Okay, I'm not finishing that up.

Still, what a twist! The early segment of the story is focused on Babs trying to escape from the people of Burnside after they were offered a reward for her head. This is actually connected to the person who has been sending villains after Batgirl but this seems to be the climax of such plot point.

The characterization of the characters is well-done. Barbara continues to be pretty likable while her relationship with other characters like Dinah is starting to improve and this is also apparently connected to the upcoming Black Canary series.

About the surprise at the end, I won't spoil it but I will just say that is the result of the build-up from previous issues and is a shocking revelation that works quite nicely.

Babs Tarr's artwork continues to look beuatiful and unique with each character being drawn different.

Excellent issue, probably one of the best from this week.
