Aquaman's problems never end.
Arthur barely survived the attack of the Shaggy Man and now Black Manta is preparing a full attack on the surface and culprit Atlantis for it.
Another chapter, another solid entry.
Dan Abnett continues his story and he wastes no time by making the transition between the different events in this book. That being said, the pacing is still natural since there are solid transitions between each segment. I have a few problems about the way how Manta's plans are executed, not because they're bad per se but I think this would have been better implemented if there was a mystery behind who launched attack. Still, this continues to move the story nicely.
And the characterization is so enjoyable, particularly the scenes between Arthur and Mera which continue to be highlight of the book since Abnett really knows how to show their romance. I also love the little cameos from previous characters from the book, some of them only have little appearances before but is good to know that Abnett has been paying attention to show them. Plus, the FBI couple of agents are fan-favorites already.
Philippe Briones handles the artwork and is pretty good looking with expressive characters and a clean style. He especially put a lot of detail in Arthur's injuries which... was a bit too much but hey, can't blame him for that.
Consistent as usual, is what you expect from this book.
