Some thoughts about All-Star Batman #4

Whos is truly in control?

Batman and Two-Face are fighting to death against each other but they will have to cooperate once that the rest of the criminals come after them.

Lots of things worked aside from some of the classic Snyder-isms.

Scott Snyder continues his story with a new installment where he still focuses on the fight between Batman and Two-Face and how both try to outsmart each other. This section works effectively thanks to solid characterization, dialogue and surprises. The story itself offers several little surprises over its course all of it building-up towards the end where we see even more interesting aspects about Two-Face.

THE PROBLEM is that Snyder once again tries to rewrite the origins of some of the characters to create a darker twist that it might seem more complex for him but is ultimately more tiring and predictable at this point if you're familiar with his work. Pretty unnecessary overall.

John Romita Jr. handles the art and is still pretty appropriate with a competent skill at delivering the cinematic moments.

The second segment still focuses on Duke and while is much shorter and not as compelling as the main one, is still a decent read and showcases how different the character is from Batman. Declan Shalvey's artwork makes the story really good looking.

Not bad aside from the typical issues that you would expect from the writer. Still worth a check.
