Some thoughts about Shazam #4

Can the Shazam family escape the Magiclands?

Billy has been separated from his siblings and they all have ended in different Magiclands that are willing to hurt them in their own ways.

Another chapter, another solid entry in this direction.

Geoff Johns continues his story by developing more of his classic worldbuilding. The exploration of the Magiclands is interesting from the start, particularly because this is initially told from the perspective of the classic character Tawky Tawny who is trying to go against the Wildlands rules that force him to eat others which tells us a lot about how him and how that society works, and again, is great how Johns has basically created an entire world from a single character.

The mystery around the Funlands is also revealed and shows a darker side as many predicted which is pretty logical considering how its ruler thinks. The Gamelands are also intriguing enough from its own angle. One of the best parts comes towards the end though when a fan-favorite character reappears and promises even better things.

Dale Eaglesham and Marco Santucci share the pencils and their work is pretty consistent and especially good when it depicts anthropomophic creatures.

Great read, can't wait for the next one.
