Some thoughts about Red Hood: Outlaw #32

Can the Red Hood return to Gotham?

After the disappearence of the Penguin, Jason has been able to take over his business and become a prominent face in Gotham but Batman is not exactly happy about it.

First of all, that cover is a lie.

Second, this is still a pretty damn good issue.

Scott Lobdell begins a new storyarc where he explores the long-awaited return of Jason to his city. The premise of the protagonist getting over Penguin's casinos is pretty interesting by itself and Lobdell knows how to exploit it in a way that makes sense based on the ramifications that could produce including the inevitable conflict with Bruce.

Best part for me though, is the characterization in general. Lobdell nails Jason's voice as usual but he also gets a pretty solid cast with the recent addition of Wingman, Suzie Su (one of his old enemies) and her sisters and even Bunker, all of them present interesting elements to the story and the interactions between them are really well-handled. I must say that I liked how Lobdell went meta with Bunker when he mentioned that it seems like his world keeps being "reborn and rebooted".

Stephen Segovia handles the art and is really good looking with beautiful character models and tons of detail.

Good read, hope the next one arrives soon.
