Some thoughts about Green Lanterns #53

Who is manipulating the Green Lanterns?

The Corps are about to lose this battle and what makes it worse is that Simon might be the one who makes things even worse.

Okay, this was way better than the last one at least.

While the last issue barely progressed the plot, this time Dan Jurgens an intallment where the event progresses at a much faster pace and actually creates more important moments. The characterization is pretty on-point despite that most of the cast is basically spending their time fighting, the dialogue is pretty natural and shows their different traits appropriately.

The best part comes towards the end though where is finally revealed who has been manipulating this war and the way how he's introduced makes a lot of sense, playing with Simon's mind and escalating his presence adequately towards the surprising end. The appearance of this villain is certainly fitting considering Jurgens' involvement and his history with the Green Lanterns.

Marco Santucci handles the art and is really solid thanks to the expressive characters and the beautiful style.

Good chapter, hope the ending is satisfying.
