New secrets are revealed.
The Challengers are on another mission and Bethany can't help to remember all the terrible things that happened to her and lead her to this point.
Yet another chapter with all the things I want from a new team book.
Scott Snyder and Aaron Gillespie deliver a new installment where they focus on yet another member of the team. This time the story is centered around Bethany and the tragic life she had from being kidnapped by terrorists to most of her family dying because of the crazy events that happen in her world. Funnily enough, Steve Orlando tried to do something similar in The Unexpected but here is much better executed due that Snyder and Gillespie actually take their time to explore Beth's background and make her more sympathetic instead of just showing a page of background and throwing her into the action like in Orlando's case.
The story itself is also classic sci-fi fun like the Challengers facing monstrous beings while adding fun conversations between them and even including an interesting twist at the end.
Andy Kubert handles the art and is really solid thanks to the expressive characters and energetic feel.
Great read, hope things continue this way.
