Sideways' worst fears have become a reality.
Derek has been hiding his secret from his family to protect them but after the sudden murder of his mother, he will realize he can keep his secret any longer.
The Seven Soldiers of Victory are back people!
That should be enough reason for fans to pick this issue but still, Dan Didio manages to create solid repercussions from the shocking events from the last page. Derek's reaction is pretty natural and logical, Didio explores appropriately the feeling of guilt that the protagonist suffering after indirectly causing the death of his mother and even shows how cruel other kids can be at lacking any sort of compassion for Derek. Is a pretty complex and sympathetic situation.
But of course, most people care about the other heroes who appear here. Didio presents the characters from Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers event in a way that seems like a sequel to that story. If there's something that you can say about the writer is that he's a big fanboy at heart and knows how to use this sort of concepts adequately and create a solid premise for them.
Keneth Rocafort is immensely inventive, his artwork shows a lot of energy and creativity that make every panel a joy to watch.
Great read, can't wait for the next one.
