Some thoughts about Deathstroke #34

The final battle is here.

Batman and Deathstroke have been in conflict for a while but now they will have to face each other in a battle that could cost their lives.

This arc officially ends and as usual, Christopher Priest handled it in a pretty competent way.

The encounter between Slade and Bruce that has been building-up during all this time finally gets a resolution and Priest uses it as an opportunity to explore both characters. The prelude to this was a nice set-up to create a contrast between both while also showing the kind of dynamic that Bruce has with his children which of course, is completely different from Slade's whose mistakes keep dragging him down.

The battle is full action but at the same time shows the similarities between the two, how good they're at what they do and how they both react to their distinct experiences. Priest gives a solid perspective from Batman's case about Deathstroke's life and one that I believe ultimately wins since I believe even Slade realizes that he's far from being a good person. The fight itself also ends in a logical note.

Carlo Pagulayan handles the art and is really good looking thanks to his beautiful characters and vibrant style that gets the best from the action.

Good read, hope the next one offers an equally solid experience.
