Some thoughts about Hal Jordan & the Green Lantern Corps #50

Is this the end for the Green Lantern Corps?

Tomar Tu has gone to far with his Darkstar law and now Hal will have to find a way to stop him and the rest of his army before is too late.

The end of an era is here.

Robert Venditti has brought the conclusion of his long Green Lantern run in a way that closes the door to many of the plot-points he created during his work in this book and even before. The battle against the Darkstars continues to be the focus and while the fight against the whole army is exciting, the best part comes from the encounter between Hal and Tomar Tu due that Venditti creates solid parallels between the two which explain the reasons why Tomar became the way he is and how different that makes him from Hal while also giving the antagonist a pretty appropriate send-off. Strong character work overall.

The outcome of the battle is handled solidly as well with a pretty glorious ending that shows the Green Lantern Corps in a powerful light, one that gives them much more hope for the future. Add the likable portrayals the whole cast receives and the satisfying final page that makes everything come full circle and you have a conclusion that delivers from many angles.

Rafa Sandoval remains as one of strongest parts of this book thanks to his vibrant artstyle that depicts the cosmic battle and character moments perfectly.

Great issue and finale. As a whole I think this 5 year run was a pretty entertaining time and I'm glad it brought such an amount of solid stories and moments.
