Some thoughts about Infinity Man and the Forever People #1

How can Gods live in the world of men?

The New Gods may be modern incarnations of ancient deities but they have been existing longer than what their name might suggest. Now a group of even younger Gods have been transfered to earth in the search of exploration and it could be one of the most dangerous events that could have happened before.

The first issue featuring one of the classic creations of Jack Kirby based on the New Gods property. DC has been teasing for a while the appearance of the New Gods in a while but there hasn't really been a book focusing completely on such characters until now, O.M.A.C. the previous collaboration of the same creative team handling the current title, Dan Didio and Keith Giffen, had some teases about the mythology but it wasn't truly cemented on the Fourth World universe. How the creative team handles this new title focused on the Forever People?

I would say that they do a pretty competent job so far. Just like with O.M.A.C., the creative team promised to bring a good sense of pure comic book fun and that's essentially what they delivered here, there's a lot of energy and excitement on the script that allows the character to be interesting from the beginning with enough Kirby concepts to make it a satisfying read for old fans.

It's also necessary to mention that the old-school feeling doesn't end there since both authors are able to create a really good story that you would most likely see on a book from that era except that without making it seem so dated. Plus, there's even a Jack Kirby reference here, that makes this issue a winner for me.

All of this wouldn't be possible without Keith Giffen's powerful and vibrant pencils though. With his Kirbyesque artstyle, Giffen is able to portray these characters and ideas the closest way possible to their original source and it's wonderful to see such tone in comics again.

Exciting and promising first issue, hope that lots of people buy this one.
