Some thoughts about Batgirl #28

Who is Grotesque?

Barbara is trying to figure out who is the new person under the mask of one of her oldest villains and the answer could put everyone in danger.

This is still pretty satisfying fortunately.

Mairghread Scott offers a new installment where she focuses on the investigation and she does a pretty solid job at it. The way how Barbara handles the case about the identity of Grotesque is really well-done and puts all of her skills to test. I have to give it to Scott that, after reading so many of her Transformers comics with less than impressive stories, I was expective something much simpler and I'm glad that I was wrong.

Best of all and as most of Scott's stories, the characterization is key here. The dynamic between Babs and her father continues to shine thanks to the realistic and accurate relationship between father and daughter depicted here where both show their feelings about the problematic situation they're living concerning Babs's new disability. The new Grotesque also receives a segment where his motivations become much clearer and show a different side of the character.

Paul Pelletier returns to art duties and his work is consistent as usual thanks to the detailed characters and precise storytelling.

Good read, hope it continues this way.
