Some thoughts about Runaways #14

The Runaways will have to take over their parents's legacy.

The Gibborim have returned and are ready to make the children of The Pride to follow their instructions but that will be more complicated than expected.

Surprisingly enough, the main story is not the main attraction here.

Rainbow Rowell offers a chapter divided in two different segments. The first one continues in the consequences of the last installment with the return of Alex also bringing back the old deities that their parents used to follow and this creates an interesting dynamic between all the team, particularly concerning the recently returned Alex whose character is following an interesting development.

David Lafuente's artwork is decent but is not my favorite style due that it lacks a certain amount of polish.

However, the best part comes during the second story which is told from Old Lace's perspective and this offers a pretty compelling and different way of storytelling. Old Lace is basically a dog so she interprets the world in a pretty simple way and is actually shocking that you get a lot of character development for the whole group from this. Many different points are being explored like the relationship between Karolina and Nico, Alex trying to become part of the team again, one of the deities showing kindness and most enjoyable of all, Old Lace treating both Chase and Gert as her parents and acting adorably jealous of the latter's recent relationship with Victor.

Takeshi Miyazawa's pencils do a pretty good job here in terms of style and storytelling, following the script perfectly.

Really entertaining read, more like this please.
