Some thoughts about Superman #32

Can Superman stop Deathstroke without becoming a killer?

Slade is putting Lois' life in danger and is up to Clark to find a way to save her without risking everyone else's lives.

"Can Superman stop Deathstroke without becoming a killer?". OF COURSE HE CAN! The problem is that this story takes a pretty stupid and forced route to prove it.

As I mentioned last time, I'm not a fan of James Bonny's work because while I thought he had good ideas, he doesn't know how to implement them appropriately. In this case however, both the premise and execution are bad. The theme of the plot is how Superman can stop a killer without becoming as bad as him which is something that has been explored MILLIONS OF TIMES IN THE PAST! So Bonny is not making anything mindblowing here in terms of creativity.

The craft however, is even worse. Superman starts acting like a brute where his only solution is to punch Slade until he beats him which doesn't make sense at all since there are several ways to defeat Slade without hitting him like the classic "Take him close to space until the lack of oxygen makes him unconscious". The only reason why Superman is acting this dumb is to make Deathstroke look good which is something that I should have expected from Bonny based on the huge boner he has on the character.

Oh, and the story barely achieves anything since we clearly know that Superman won't cross that line and this apparently is going to continue in some story about the Suicide Squad? Don't care.

Tyler Kirkham's artwork is pretty solid though with energetic action scenes and vibrant characters.

This is terrible, glad that I wasn't expecting anything.
