Some thoughts about The Flash #33

Can The Flash save the Multiverse once again?

Barry is trying to find answers about the Dark Multiverse and now he will learn more than he expected once that its beings appear.

Metal tie-in and it works well enough but is not without flaws.

For one, I've always liked the direction that Joshua Williamson has taken with the character, about including as many references to his history as possible while also being as faithful to the character as possible and this issue is not different. There are mentions about Barry's past with the Multiverse along with his classic themes of hope and surviving that create a pretty accurate representation of the character. Not to mention that there are few teasers about what's coming in the future and that seems pretty interesting.

The problem is that this sadly interferes with the story that Williamson is already telling in the book which I ultimately find much more compelling than the whole Metal event. This tie-in gets the job done at expanding the role of The Flash but I wish he would have gotten his own one-shot instead of forcing it into the series.

Howard Porter is in charge of the pencils and is always good to see him drawing the character due that he captures the energy and speed that the series needs perfectly.

Solid in its own merits, hope to return to the main story soon though.
