Will Harleen lose herself?
Harvey Dent has completely lost his mind and moral compass and has decided to free all the immates from Arkham Asylum, just what the Joker wanted.
This series comes to a conclusion and quite frankly, I'm willing to take this as the definitive Harley Quinn origin story from now on.
Stjepan Sejic brings his final chapter by delivering an extremely engaging read that makes a tragic character even more tragic. From the early pages you can notice how Harleen's obsession with the Joker has grown to dangerous levels, just as dangerous as Harvey Dent's increasing madness which finally turns him into something that he always wanted and feared at the same time. The parallels between the two characters escalate powerfully towards the end where their ultimate fate is finally revealed and puts everything in a new perspective.
The Joker obviously plays an important role into all of this since his manipulative side was seen since the beginning but this chapter shows how truly terrible he is and how far he can go to get what he wants. All of this is perfectly reflected on Harley who always believed in him to the point that he was willing to become a monster to protect him.
Even the other Gotham characters receive a solid portrayal including obviously Batman who was conducting his own investigation concerning the Joker and Poison Ivy whose connection to Harley keeps being teased.
Sejic's artwork continues to impress thanks to his distinctive storytelling and style that makes every panel a joy to watch, it's full of beautiful characters.
Powerful conclusion, one of the best this week no doubt.
