Mother does not know best.
Talia Al Ghul has come back for Damian once again but she was not counting that now he has a friend who is ready to fight for him.
A new storyline begins and shows why this is one of the most enjoyable books on the stands.
Peter Tomasi opens this arc with Talia who as usual, is always present in Damian's life and wants to send him for the road she considers right. It seems like Tomasi might be basing his characterization on the Grant Morrison version of Talia who was much more ruthless and cold than her original incarnation, this is not necessarily bad here though since it contrasts perfectly with the kind of dynamic that Damian has created with Jon which is a much more caring one.
However, while the character work is really good, one of the best parts for me are the interactions between the cast and this issue is great example of that. Is hard to not smile at seeing both Jon and Damian trying to pass as normal kids and going to school or how Damian reacts entertainingly cool at the threat of her mother.
Carlo Barberi handles the artwork and his style has become better in recent years since he has left his 90s days behind and polished his work to create more natural looking characters.
Great read, sad this book is ending based on news though.
