Batman is being controlled.
A mysterious force is affecting Bruce's mind and he suddenly will realize that he's not the only one.
A new storyarc begins and seems decent at least.
Tom King opens this arc by presenting the new threat the characters will have to face which as you might already know, is Poison Ivy. Her presence is pretty strong during this issue and keeps escalating appropriately towards the end while the sense of danger keeps increasing equally. This being King, he also manages to include a few references to old stories which is appreciated. The dialogue can be off at times but not as bad as some of the worst examples in this run.
THE PROBLEM is that this issue is pure set-up. There's not a lot of content and most of the actual story is simply being prepared to be told in upcoming issues, this should have been called a prologue instead since it feels like one and has the exact same amount of content. Also, I have a few issues with Ivy's level of power which seems too much and I hope gets explained in the future.
Mikel Janin's artwork elevates King's script once again thanks to his beautiful characters and precise storytelling.
Okay overall but not much beyond that, let's see how it continues.
