Some thoughts about Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt #1

Is there any hope left for the Multiverse?

A group of heroes are still trying to fight against the Batmen from the Dark Multiverse and there might be pretty close to find the clue to win but even that might not be enough.

This is yet another tie-in but is a pretty special one since it showcases the return of Grant Morrison to DC after a couple of years and you totally can tell that this is a Morrison story despite that is a collaboration.

Yes, Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV and Joshua Williamson accompany Morrison in this tale about the last hope for the DCU consisting of The Flash, Cyborg, Raven and strangely enough, Detective Chimp who plays a more important role than you might expect. You can quickly notice the Morrison influence in the dialogue which is as esoteric and impossible as you can expect from him but it works pretty well in some of the most spectacular and powerful scenes while also describing the characters perfectly. This is something that I can appreciate from Morrison since he knows how to execute his ridiculous lines in an effective way most of the time (which is pretty different from someone like, let's say, Tom King who tries to do something similar but fails most of the time).

And that's not the only aspect where you can notice his style since the plot itself presents many of the concepts he created. The already established Multiverse is here but also a few ideas like how music connects the universes and an island of mad scientists will sound familiar to fans as well. All of these themes are integrated nicely into the whole premise of the event where even the last bit of hope might be fake while also concluding in a pretty ludicrous yet amazing way.

Howard Porter, Jorge Jimenez and Doug Mahnke handle the artwork and they all do a pretty good job during their respective sections although Mahnke's work at times looked a bit rushed.

Great stuff overall, easily one of the best things from this event.
