Some thoughts about Batman: White Knight #5

Gotham City is at risk of losing everything.

Batman is becoming more and more unhinged while Jack Napier's mission to save the city is becoming more and more successful. However, someone else is going to make things worse for everyone.

Penultimate chapter and it continues to play with many of the classic themes of this miniseries.

Sean Murphy delivers a new intallment where he emphasizes the contrast between Batman and the Joker even more than in previous entries. Bruce is getting more irrational and violent to the point where even the people who are close to him confront him about his behavior while the Joker's sanity is about to save Gotham apparently. This creates pretty solid character work from not only the protagonists but also the people around them since the interactions showcase really interesting scenes demonstrating their insight about the whole situation.

The plot itself progresses at a nice pace but is mostly a set-up for what's about to come in the last chapter where everything is going to come together and we will finally see who is the true protector of Gotham. I wish there would have been more story here but the portrayals compensate for it.

Murphy's artwork continues to impress thanks to his beautiful and distinctive style that creates great character models and a dark atmosphere.

Good read overall, hope the conclusion is worthy.
