Whatever happened to Darkseid?
Grail and her father have been hiding since their last battle with the Justice League and now they're decided to reclaim their former glory no matter how many Gods they have to kill.
This is getting more interesting but still suffers from some of James Robinson's ticks.
For one, there are a few flashbacks about what happened to both Darkseid and Grail since the Justice League event Darkseid War and that's cool since it brings a lot of background to both characters. Not to mention that Robinson goes full with his classic worldbuilding techniques to make them travel around the planet and investigate the different kind of Gods that exist and how they're connected to Darkseid's second coming. This allows for a richer view of the mythos.
THE PROBLEM is that Robinson also falls in some of his classic flaws like killing the characters right away just when he introduced them. I mean, he manages to make them interesting enough during his descriptions but this also makes me wish that I would have seen more about them. Seems almost like a waste.
Emanuela Luppachino handles the artwork and is really solid with beautiful characters and clear storytelling.
Aside from some issues, I did dig this one. Hope the next one also delivers.
