What is Darkseid?
Scott is being called by the New Gods to stop Darkseid and his forces but the enemy might be closer than anyone could have thought.
Better than the last chapter at the very least.
Tom King offers a new installment where he explores the nature of this particular war as well as some of the themes that have been present since the beginning. The ramifications from the last issue are still being felt and they're affecting Scott in both clear and strange ways, some that he can't understand and but they're connected to how he has been feeling for a while. The character development is still a mystery but one that is fun to see being developed.
The relationships between the protagonist and the rest of the cast remains strong due to how important Scott ends-up being for this whole situation and how this is related to his romance with Big Barda and the complex dynamic he shares with Orion. This ultimately pays off towards the end and brings emotional moments as well.
Mitch Gerards remains in art duties and his work still elevates the script a lot thanks to his powerful storytelling and unique style. I'm particularly a fan of how he made Funky Flashman look like Stan Lee which is appropriate I guess.
Interesting and better executed overall, hope the next one is just as good.
