The next generation of the World's Finest has arrived.
Jon and Damian have become friends recently which means that both will help each other whenever they need it although this might not be so good for one of them.
A lot has been building-up to this, one could argue that Peter Tomasi has been working in the development for this title since the beginning of his New 52 work in Batman and Robin. After the recent development in the Superman series, Tomasi has finally made the children of Superman and Batman work together and their interactions have been pretty entertaining so far.
And this new issue is no exception.
As I mentioned before, Tomasi does know how to write kids. The characterization of both Jon and Damian is really good separately when they have to hang out with their friends or talking to their parents. However, the story truly shines whenever they interact with each other, is really entertaining to see how different they are and how they can still be friends despite of it. Their relationship is quite natural and makes every scene where they appear a joy to watch.
About the plot, there's not a lot to see. The issue mostly serves to set-up the protagonists' dynamic while the story is not that deep in terms of content, we don't know where is exactly going yet which hopefully will be resolved in future issues.
Jorge Jimenez handles the art and is really beautiful. Jimenez' style is perfect to depict the kids' expressions and makes the action scenes really energetic just like a young superhero book should be.
Really excited for this, it makes you invested in both characters perfectly despite that the story is not there yet.
