Is Kenan ready to become a better Superman?
Kenan has been training with I-Ching but things are not going as well as he expected. Meanwhile, Batman will have to face one of his biggest challenges yet.
This keeps getting better and better and I'm quite for it.
Gene Luen Yang continues his development of China and its superheroes focusing on multiple angles at the same time. The characterization of Kenan continues to be quite unlikable at times but at others he actually shows his better side and one that makes you more invested in his progress and future. Batman also gets some interesting moments demonstrating why he deserves to wear the mantle.
The best aspect for me though, is the worldbuilding. There are several aspects connected to the culture of this country that are really appreciated. The way how Kenan's powers are related to ancient teachings makes a lot of sense considering the background and the way how the Gotham Arena is connected to the Batman of China is pretty interesting and even manages to create its own kind of Joker for him, even in a more personal way.
Billy Tan handles the artwork and is pretty solid with interesting backgrounds and good looking character models.
Quite solid and full of content, happy to keep this one.
