Superman has finally found someone similar to him, but are they really the same?
Ulysses has arrived to Earth to bring peace and everyone is just as excited for him as they were for Superman back in the day, the Daily Planet especially and this could fix Clark Kent's relationship with them. However, Ulysses is not exactly like Clark despite of what the latter might believe as he will eventually discover.
The second issue from the new creative team in the main Superman book and so far they have proven themselves worthy.
Geoff Johns brings a story with a lot of charm. One where he not only focuses on the dilemma that Clark Kent is currently having due to the arrival of the new Superman, but he also concentrates on developing the personality of the latter. Johns spends a few scenes in Ulysses while trying to emphasize the most important his most important aspects, this segment works really well and makes the character much more likable and enjoyable.
But the good things don't end there, the writer also starts developing the cast of the Daily Planet including classics like Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and Perry White while also adding more obscure ones like Ron Troupe, Steve Lombard and even new faces. Plus, there's a mystery going on here besides of the arrival of Ulysses that started in te previous issue and it's one that it's actually being present pretty nicely.
John Romita Jr. continues his work on the title and he in fact brings a much more polished work this time, his character models look a lot more refined while his storytelling techniques remain quite good.
Satisfying issue definitely, I really enjoy where this series is going so far.
