The battle between the King of Atlantis and the Creature King is upon us.
Chimera is free and he's ready to prove himself as Aquaman's superior but while he certainly has the power to proof such claim, his mind is still too weak due to the experiment he had to endure. Now it depends on Arthur to try to stop him and try to save everyone in the process.
I must admit that I enjoyed this issue quite much. While Jeff Parker's run had its flaws in the beginning, the build-up to the current confrontation has been at least interesting and the present installment actually delivers on such promise.
Chimera is pretty compelling creation and antagonist so far, mostly based on his abilities, he has most of Arthur's skills but he's also able to do some things he can't like changing his appearance depending on what he needs. The personality disorder he's currently suffering is something that has potential and so far it's being competently developed.
The Mera and Atlantis sections continues to be good. I really enjoy the portrayal of both Mera and Tula as well as the dynamic that is being constructed, the character work for Arthur is also pretty good and it's nice to know that he's smarter than I initially thought.
Paul Pelletier is back drawing the whole issue and it's so much better for that. Pelletier's ability to create intense scenes is admirable as well as his technique to create creepy and fascinating creatures.
Great issue, I don't have any complaints about it whatsoever.
